I overall really enjoyed this book and Marty & Claudia’s story. Marty met Claudia when they were in college at the same time his best friend and roommate, Zack. Both guys had eyes for her, and in the end it was ladies man and star athelete Zack that got the girl. Marty did gain Claudia as a new best friend, even though he had to live silently with his unrequited love. After a devestating betrayal, Zack eventually loses Claudia and Marty ends up being collateral damage. They eventually cross paths again a decade later and new feelings are uncovered.

I did give it 4/5 stars because of a few issues I had with the story. First, part one of the story seemed like it could have been shorter. I get that there was world building for their backstory, but I would have preferred to spend more of the story in the present. Second, without giving away any spoilers – I had some questions about Marty’s loyalty. I felt he truly betrayed Claudia, and I also think he had some shady moments with his gf when he crossed paths with Claudia 10 years later.

I loved that they were finally able to get their HEA so many years after they first met. I just had reservations about Marty’s overall character. As I got an ALC and listened to this as an audiobook, I have to give major props to the narrators. Aubrey Vincent & Ryan Lee Dunlap were great casting for Claudia and Marty. They really kept me engaged listening to the story, even when I had see-sawing emotions lol.
