Review: Wild River

ARC provided by Valentine PR & Laura Pavlov.

Wild River was book two in the Magnolia Falls series. It follows the enemies to lovers story of fellow “Ride Or Die” brother River and the local bar owner’s daughter, Ruby. Initially these two are not fans of each other, and River names her the Evil Queen because of her attitude towards him.

After a lot of back and forth banter between them, River and Ruby realize they have a lot more in common than they realized – and, undeniable chemistry. They decide to enjoy a short term fling while Ruby is in town taking care of her dad. Naturally, it’s not long before feelings start creeping in and Ruby’s impending departure from Magnolia Falls becomes the elephant in the room.

Like in the last book, the found family aspect of this group of friends is so much fun. I love the group text banter between the guys, and we also have some new group texts from the new women in the mix. Beefcake is still an adorable little ladies man of course. I really like the support that everyone provides for River and, by extension, Ruby, while they are trying to figure things out.

The only part that kinda drove me crazy was how miscommunication towards the end caused some unnecessarily hurt feelings. Also, Ruby was very lacking in communication with River in key areas. That was more than a little frustrating since she’d spent so many years studying psychology, you’d think she would be a bit more self aware.

Other than that, this was a fun and enjoyable read that I found myself getting lost in. I always hate to see the end of the book approaching, but I wanted to get to their HEA. I am SO looking forward to Kingston’s story next as it looks like there are definitely going to be some sparks with the rest of the group!
