Review: After the Storm

I am so glad to finally have Cage and Presley’s story, even though it ends our time in Cottonwood Cove.

Cage and Presley were childhood sweethearts, loving each other since the beginning. Unfortunately life pulled them apart for many years. He had a child with another woman and she married another man, but through all that they never stopped loving each other.

Presley finds herself back in Cottonwood Cove taking care of her father after a health scare and on the brink of divorce after her ex cheats on her, getting his mistress pregnant. She’s not looking forward to running into Cage, but in such a small town she knows it’s inevitable.

At first, Cage tries to keep Presley at arms length from himself and his 5 year old daughter Gracie. Soon though, old feelings are rekindled and both of them are drawn to each other. Presley is also surprised to find she is also drawn to his daughter just as much.

I was happy to see these two get their much deserved HEA. I have to be honest about the fact that I was a little bitter about how Cage had treated Presley during the course of their romantic relationship, past and present. Considering the very big feelings these two had for each other and how Cage was willing to fight for her in the end, I forgave him (although begrudgingly).

I hope that we can somehow revisit these characters from this series in the next because they feel like old friends at this point, but I’m eager to see where the winds take us in Ms. Pavlov’s next series!
