I was so not looking forward to this series ending, but like all good things, I knew it couldn’t last forever – if it HAD to end, The Wild Card was a perfect closer! I already really liked Jordan’s character from previous books, the snarky black cat energy was strong with her. Coach Ward was also always present in the background, but he was always everyone’s cheerleader, finding potential in his players and staff and then developing it. At the end of Gloves Off we got anlittle teaser about some of the conflict that this book would entail and the fact that Jordan and Tate would be our last couple, and this story did not disappoint.
Both Jordan and Tate had different backgrounds and personalities, which led to them both making some major assumptions about each other. What they didnt realize was that they both had issues of abandonment when it came to their fathers, which had shaped their adult lives, decisions and personalities. Once they are unexpectedly thrown together, they slowly start seeing each other for the flawed but amazing people they are. “Daddy” Ward is an amazing father and Jordan has a kind and tender heart behind her protective walls. They truly complemented each other as a couple and the chemistry between them was red hot.
I also loved how their friends all got behind the common goal of getting these two together! Some of their antics were hilarious… and Rory, I’m going to really miss that 💩 stirrer LOL. I enjoyed seeing how Jordan and Tate worked together, not just as a couple, but professionally as well… honestly I dont think there was anything I didn’t like, other than the fact that it ended lol.
I can’t forget to rave about the duet narration by Vanessa Edwin & Aaron Shedlock! They were glfantastic choices to voice Jordan and Tate. Their timing, emotion, and nuanced performances truly brought an already amazing story to life.
So I guess the best way to describe my feelings about The Wild Card would be to quote the great Cher Horowitz: I am majorly, totally, butt crazy in love with this book!
