I have been waiting with baited breath for this to get to me on audio, and I was not disappointed! Sebastian York and Angelina Rocca were awesome as grumpy team captain, McCabe and HBIC (Head Bitch in Charge) AJ. I always knew from the first book that there was going to be a story between these two!

Normally, I’m not a huge fan of reverse age gap, and this had the reverse power dynamic as well with AJ being McCabe’s boss – but, Julia wrote this in such a way that you are really more focused on the characters and their personally power struggle/dynamic. The other tropes were more like issues or outside complications, but it never took away from the story for me. Can we talk about what an amazing daddy McCabe is!? Every time he was with his baby girl, my dried up ovaries plumped back up just in time to explode! Lol Not to mention, once he got his head dislodged from his rear end and saw AJ for the amazing woman she is, he treated her the way she should have always been treated. The blossoming of their feelings and relationship was a beautiful thing to see.

Also, getting back to the narration, Angelina Rocca was so perfect to read for AJ – she is one of those narrators who can display boss chick vibes but still show her sensitive underbelly. Initially, I thought Sebastian York might be a little too mature sounding – but he also does a great job with grumpy characters and guys who carry weight on their shoulders, which was totally McCabe.

I’m so locked into this series, every book has been gold, definitely looking forward to the next one!
