I really enjoyed reading about Burgess and Tallulah’s story – I was intrigued about their instant connection in Wells & Josephine’s book. I loved how Burgess slowly and gently helped Tallulah feel safe with him and with her own instincts. In turn, she helped Burgess start to see that his identity could be more than hockey.
This story did have a third act breakup, and I was pretty ticked off about how it went down, but I must say I was very pleased with how it was resolved. Usually, I hate the 3rd act break-up primarily because there isn’t enough emotional work done to bring the characters back together – it feels rushed. That wasn’t the case here, and I think Ms. Bailey did it justice.
There were several moments that had me randomly laughing out loud in this book – i feel like Tessa totally gets the art of subtle humor better than most. My favorite part, which had me giggling in my doctor’s office waiting room, was the singles mixer scene that had the quote “stop trying to make Fetch happen”! Pure comedy lol.
As I listened to the audiobook, I had to give major props to Callie Dalton for carrying the weight for both Burgess and Tallulah! She’s a great performer who always helps me stay locked into the story without any off-putting aspects to her voice that distract from the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Au Pair Affair, and I seriously can’t wait for Sig & Chloe’s book next!
