First, let it be said, I am a huge fan girl for Catherine Cowles. I’ve read everything she’s released, and she is on a very short list of auto buy authors. That said, you can imagine my anticipatory angst waiting for the concluding book in the Lost & Found series. It did not disappoint!
Wow, what a fantastic ending to the series! We definitely had some surprises at the end that I had never even considered.
Throughout the series, we got a lot of hints that Law had been through a doozy with the mother of his 3 boys, and we finally got the full back story in Ashes of You. It was always understood that he was a loner and as adverse to love and relationships as you could get. We knew it would take a very special woman to get him to change his stance, and Hallie was the perfect answer to that challenge.
There was also issues with Luke, Lawson’s oldest son, who had grown more and more sullen and withdrawn from his dad as the series went on. That whole situation was brought into the light as well, and I was very pleased with the healing that took place in their family.
The suspenseful aspect of the story was a nice companion to the budding romance between Law and Hallie – I truly didn’t see that whodunit going down like that!
This could definitely be read as a standalone, but I advise starting from the beginning to really be able to appreciate this concluding chapter of the Hartley family’s story.
